Swashbuckling opening batter David Warner longer-format opener Abid Ali have been added to the men’s category for the ICC Player of the Month awards alongside New Zealand's seasoned paceman Tim Southee.

Left-arm spinners Anam Amin of Pakistan and Nahida Akter from  Bangladesh are the frontrunners to bag the women’s award coupled with West Indies ace all-rounder Haley Matthews who is in the category for the second time. 

The nominations for the last month were made public today after taking into account performances in all formats and the matches that players partook in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 which was staged in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

An autonomous ICC Voting Academy* as well as cricket enthusiasts, can cast their vote to choose the winners, which will be posted in the coming week. Cricket aficionados who have registered on icc-cricket.com/awards can vote till Sunday after which the voting lines will be closed.

ICC Men’s Player of the Month Nominees for November:

Abid Ali (Pakistan)

Pakistan opener Abid Ali was adjudicated Player of the Match after notching up 133 and 91 in the first Test of Pakistan'ICC World Test Championship (WTC) campaign this year against Bangladesh in Chittagong. He played an instrumental role in orchestrating Pakistan's thumping eight-wicket win. His two 100-plus partnerships with debutant Abdullah Shafique changed the complexions of the game.

Tim Southee (NZ)

New Zealand frontline bowling spearhead Tim Southee shed eight wickets in the drawn Test of the WTC series versus India in Kanpur. He had taken seven wickets in November at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and powered his side to the final against Australia. 

David Warner (Australia)

David Warner, who wasn't in form ahead of the T20 World Cup ended the marquee event as the Player of the Tournament and had a memorable outing in the semifinal against Pakistan. He scored 49 in the semifinal against Pakistan and 53 in the all-important final against New Zealand. In four T20Is thus far, he accumulated 209 runs at an average of 69.66 and at a strike rate of 151.44, making sure he lives up to his credo.

ICC Women’s Player of the Month Nominees for November:

Nahida Akter (Bangladesh)

Nahida took 13 wickets in four ODIs in the last month at an economy of 2.22. She snared 11 wickets against Zimbabwe in the 3-0 win, which includes her stellar performance of five for 21 in the third ODI held in Bulawayo. The other two wickets came against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2021 in Harare.

Anam Amin (Pakistan)

Anam Amin was on top of her game and took 13 ODI scalps in November at an economy of 3.00. She was the leading wicket-taker in the bowling charts during the ODI series against the West Indies with nine wickets and cashed in on her good form with four wickets in two matches amid the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2021, which boast 3/9 against Zimbabwe.

Hayley Matthews (West Indies)

All-rounder Hayley Matthews is yet again in the nominations after registering consistent performances in four ODIs in which she amassed 141 runs and took nine wickets at an average of 13.11. She brought her A-game in the series win over Pakistan, bludgeoning 57 and returning figures of 3/31 in the first match before a four-wicket haul for 26 runs in the second game.
